The Red Sea is a crucial navigational channel linking the Arabian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea,and connecting the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. Following the outbreak of a new round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict in October 2023,security issues of the Red Sea region have prominently emerged as a spillover of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. In support of Palestine, the Houthis, who control parts of Yemen, have begun to attack Israeli and Western ships passing through the Red Sea,escalating navigational safety concerns in this region. As the U.S. and Western countries intensify their fight against the Houthis, the issue of shipping safety in the Red Sea continues to ferment and has become an important part of regional tensions. In order to avoid the risk, many well-known international shipping companies have rerouted away from the Red Sea,choosing instead to traverse the southern coastal waters of Africa, causing the global shipping, logistics and insurance costs soar, and bringing a serious impact on the global industrial chain. The key to resolving the security crisis in the Red Sea lies in achieving a ceasefire in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict promptly, reducing the intervention of external military forces, creating good expectations for the stability of the regional situation and normal shipping and trade transactions.
