In 2016 the PICs maintained stability politically and economically.General elections in 6 island countries runs fairly smoothly，and the power is transitioned to another smoothly.Some sensitive areas emerge as hot topics.Democratic political reform is confronted with many challenges.Due to both domestic and external factors，Growth in the PICs economy slows.The pressure of readjustment of economic structure is under tremendous pressure though the outlook of the PICs economy looks very positive.The negative effects of climate change are significant problems for the people in daily life.The vector-borne diseases such as dengue are rife，and there are a break forth on gender issues.The PICs' diplomacy becomes increasingly active，regionalism develops stably，and PICs' international status improves.The major countries battle it out in south pacific，and there are some new changes in the area.
