In contrast to Benigno Acquino Ⅲ government’s close relations with the U.S.，Rodrigo Duterte’s government has reversed the balance-of-power diplomacy and conducted Philippines’ foreign policy more independently. Nonetheless，Japan and Philippines have strengthened their governmental interactions，forged closer economic ties and activelycooperated in security and defense affairs. In sum，Japan-Philippines relations has been further solidified and continued to maintain a positive momentum of development since President Duterte took office.
