In 2018,Colombia held parliamentary election and presidential elections. New Congress and new president took office in July and August respectively. The economic situation showed signs of recovery,but the tax reform had encountered twists and turns. The overall social security situation had improved,but it still faced the threat of increased violence. Foreign policy focused on economic diplomacy and security diplomacy. Relations with the United States had improved while relations with Venezuela had deteriorated.
