随着新兴国家的崛起，全球南南合作从政治领域扩展到了经济、社会、文化等领域，以分享发展经验和平等互利区别于传统的南南合作。农业一直是南南合作的重点领域，全球农业南南合作也从双边合作主导转向三边合作日益增多，在这一背景下，中国一直秉承南南合作基本原则，尤其是在农业领域，中国成为各种农业南南合作模式的主要参与者、引领者和贡献者。
With the rise of emerging countries，the scope of global south-south cooperation is being expanded from mainly political cooperation to broadly economic，social，cultural and other areas. Differing from the traditional south-south cooperation，the present south-south cooperation features the characteristics of sharing developmental experience and mutual benefit. Agriculture development has always been the focus of the south-south cooperation. South-south cooperation in agriculture is now combined the modalities of bilateral cooperation and more increasingly trilateral cooperation. China has been adhering to the fundamental principles of global south-south cooperation，especially in agricultural sector. China is becoming the significant participator，leading power and contributor to innovate modalities and approaches of south-south cooperation.
