As the centre of spirituality and power for Singapore's Teochew community since the mid 19^th century，the Wak Hai Cheng Bio's history and development serve as an important component of early Singapore immigrant and societal history，while also being a reflection of the interactive relationship between the different dialect groups and the structural power changes within the community.The Wak Hai Cheng Bio has therefore been a subject of academic attention.Due to a dearth of original documents and artifacts，there are inevitable doubts and loopholes regarding the several records and research results of this age-old Teochew temple that require verification.This article aims to conduct further investigation on the historical facts of Wak Hai Cheng Bio's founding including its relationship with other Teochew associations based on earlier research results，the existing inscriptions，British colonial government files，oral history and interview records，news articles as well as scattered Teochew association meeting minutes and original documents.
