Improving the openness and transparency of the organization is of great significance to the development of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In June 2017,the SCO Astana Summit gave India and Pakistan official membership status. Both India and Pakistan are large and influential world and regional powers. Their participation is strategically beneficial to the development of the SCO by ascribing some global attributes to the regional international organization of the SCO. As new member states,after more than a decade of application to full membership,have India and Pakistan changed their basic positions on joining the SCO?What are the underlying factors that affect the change?Given the different motivations of India and Pakistan to participate in the SCO,what are the differences between the two countries in the foci and priorities of cooperation in various fields within the framework of the organization?This article will analyze and explore this.
