Portuguese，a Romance language，is spoken by over 200 million people of different nations and regions. With the further development of the Belt and Road Initiative，the demand for Portuguese speakers is growing. However，various difficulties and problems have arisen. Thus，the present study collects and analyzes teaching practice and the employment of Portuguese major students from colleges of mainland China. Meanwhile，this study offers targeted advice and suggestions on teaching Portuguese and promoting the quality of talents in accordance with national economic transformation and actual market demand，so as to better nurture Portuguese talents in China consistent with national development requirements and trends.
