Iran and India,two ancient civilizations,have a long and close relationship in terms of race,language and cultural traditions. The two countries enjoy friendly political relations,strong complementary in the economic field and common position in the field of counter-terrorism. In recent years,the two sides have maintained close cooperation in energy and transportation,especially in the construction of the Chabahar port and the north-south transport corridor. The withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA has cast a shadow over the next step in bilateral relations. India,under pressure from the United States,may reduce its imports of Iranian oil and withdraw from oil and gas cooperation projects. Infrastructure cooperation projects the two countries may also be delayed by financial sanctions.
