2017年12月27日，巴西政府颁布了国家生物燃料政策，其目标是推动巴西生物燃料的生产和应用，履行《巴黎协定》应对气候变化的义务，同时，也标志着巴西生物燃料产业将提质升级，迈入新的发展阶段。巴西政府采取的一些措施对刺激生物燃料生产起到了积极的作用。国家生物燃料政策的实施，标志着巴西生物燃料产业迈入了第三个发展时期。第一个发展时期是在20世纪80年代。随着酒精计划的实施，巴西开始使用乙醇和生物柴油来替代汽油和柴油。第二个发展时期是灵活燃料汽车的研制成功和推广使用，支持了生物燃料的生产，扩大了市场的需求。第三个发展时期将是开发新型生物燃料、提高生物燃料在能源结构中的比重的新时期。
In December 27，2017，the government of Brazil promulgated the national biofuel policy，which aims to promote the production and application of Brazilian biofuel and fulfil the obligations of the Paris Agreement to cope with climate change. At the same time，it also indicates that the biofuel industry in Brazil will upgrade and move into a new stage of development. Some measures taken by the government of Brazil have played a positive role in stimulating biofuel production. The implementation of national biofuels policy marks the third development stage of Brazilian biofuel industry. The first period of development was in the 80s of last century. With the implementation of the alcohol program，Brazil began to use ethanol and biodiesel instead of gasoline and diesel. The second development period is the successful development and popularization of the flexible fuel vehicle，supporting the production of biofuels and expanding the market demand. The third period of development will be the new era of developing new biofuels and improving the proportion of biofuels in the energy structure.
