Since the concept of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area was proposed，positive responses were received by the relevant cities in the Bay Area in addition to attention made by the central government which define it as one of the major national strategies. The Bay Area has provided Macau with a new opportunity. This article reviews the evolution of the concept of the Bay Area and analyses the significance of constructing an international centre for technological innovations in the Bay Area. The states of technological development of the cities in the Bay Area and the science and technology cooperation between Macau and the Mainland are also summarized. Based on these analyses，this paper argues that Macau should participate actively in the construction of the international centre for technological innovations in the Bay Area by proposing several points of breakthrough.
