The Macau Arts Festival has been in existence for nearly three decades. It was first held in March 1989 by the previous Portuguese government. The Macau Art Festival has continued its steady development since Macau’s return to the motherland and the establishment of the SAR government. Last year，it successfully organized the 28^th Macau Arts Festival. The Macau Arts Festival is one of the oldest art festivals in China. Nowadays，the tourism industry in Macau is developing rapidly. The SAR Government has also made every effort to build Macau into a world tourism and leisure center. In view of this，the Macau Arts Festival is a festival of value for further development to support the overall tourism industry development. Without a doubt，festival events are part of the cultural tourism and have a close interaction with the tourism industry. This chapter discusses the integration of Macau Arts Festival and local tourism and leisure development. This chapter first discusses the three periods of the Macau Arts Festival-Development，Exploration，and the New Era. In addition，by exploring the successful development of other arts festivals abroad，we will explore the future development of the Macau Arts Festival. More importantly，the author attempts to apprehend how Macau Arts Festival can tie in with Macau’s overall tourism development；in order to create a synergy effect，to enhance and to diversify the tourism image of Macau for a sustainable tourism development.
