南海是中国四大海域中面积最大、海洋渔业资源最为丰富的海域。2016年南海海洋渔业生产同比上年在各方面均出现了不同幅度的增长，这说明南海渔业生产的整体环境依然良好。但同样也存在不少问题，主要表现在近海渔业资源减少与海洋污染面积增加、渔业从业人口减少、渔业生产结构不合理以及南海渔业纠纷频发等。针对南海渔民渔业发展的现状及问题，建议从制度、技术、市场和人员等多方面采取应对措施，促进南海渔民渔业的可持续发展。
The South China Sea is the largest of China's four major seas and the most abundant marine fishery resource.The growth of marine fishery production in the South China Sea in 2016 witnessed a year-on-year increase in various aspects over the previous year，which shows that the overall environment for fishery production in the South China Sea is still good.However，there are also many problems，mainly manifested in the reduction of coastal fishery resources and the increase in the area of marine pollution，the reduction of the population employed in fisheries，the irrational structure of fishery production，and the frequent occurrence of fishery disputes in the South China Sea.In view of the status quo and problems of fishermen and fisheries development in the South China Sea，we suggested that measures should be taken in the aspects of system，technology，market and personnel to promote the sustainable development of fishermen and fisheries in the South China Sea.
