The British film industry’s performance in 2016 and 2017 was not as good as in 2015，yet it still developed smoothly. UK box office，box office share of UK films（35.9%）as well as UK films’ global box office were all second highest from 2001，just lower than the 2015 figures. Cinema admission declined slightly. Hollywood blockbusters dominated the Top 20 Films，but the top 4 in 2016 were UK-US co-productions. The box office share of independent films slid from its 2014 peak to 7.4%. In 2016，200 films were shot in the UK. The 2016～2017 total UK production expenditure reached record height. Genre was marked by diversity，with comedy films being the most popular. The British film talents won 15% of key international awards，but had poor harvest with the 2017 Oscar awards. Rogue One：A Star Wars Story，Bridget Jones’s Baby and Absolutely Fabulous：The Movie became box office hits，while Brooklyn，I，Daniel Blake and The White Helmets were honoured with artistic awards. The British government continued to support film development with public funding and tax concessions. Filmmakers worry about the negative impact of “Brexit” on the film industry prospect.
