由于历史的原因，中国和东盟之间仍存在某些误解与不信任，双边关系始终不尽如人意。为了促进中国-东盟利益共同体和命运共同体的建立，中国需要在东盟国家中寻找一个支点国家，起桥梁作用。泰国具备成为支点国家的必要条件。在过去几十年里，泰国的确发挥了这种桥梁作用。但是，我们也要清醒地认识到，不能把这种作用估计过高。
Due to historical reasons，there are still some misunderstandings and mistrust between China and ASEAN. Their bilateral relations have never been satisfactory. China needs to seek a pivot state in ASEAN which plays a bridging role to promote the establishment of China-ASEAN community of interests and destiny. Thailand has the indispensable conditions for becoming a pivot state. In the past few decades，Thailand has indeed played such a bridging role. However，we should also be aware that this role cannot be overestimated.
