In 2016,the Netanyahu government adopted relatively sound policies, taking into account interests of different political parties, bridging cleavages between ethnic groups, promoting social integration, and effectively curbing terrorist activities,In consequence, the overall situation of Israel remained relatively stable. Its macroeconomic indicators showed good momentum. Its economic growth rate reached 4.0%,which was unparalleled in recent years. Besides,Israel’s population grew, its labor force participation rate increased, its gender income disparity decreased, its social group identification got stronger and its national happiness index ranked high in the world. Nevertheless,a series of challenges put the government’s governance ability to a serious test. These include the corruption charges against the Prime Minister, the structural imbalances in the Israeli economy, the conflicts with the United Nations, the non-existent Israeli-Palestinian peace talks and the passive state in diplomacy.
