天然气人民币是与“石油美元”相对应的一个概念，其目的是推动全球天然气贸易用人民币计价与结算。随着能源的清洁化转型，中国乃至全球对天然气的需求将稳步增长，天然气有望取代石油和煤炭，成为最主要的化石能源和最重要的大宗商品之一。中国可借助北美页岩气革命和俄罗斯天然气出口重心东移的契机，推进东北亚区域性乃至全球性的天然气交易中心建设，并形成人民币交易和计价的机制，以此推进国内天然气行业改革和能源结构转型，并争取东北地区天然气的定价话语权，加快人民币的国际化进程。
Natural gas-RMB is a concept which parallels with oil dollar. The natural gas-RMB strategy aims at developing natural gas trade to be settled in RMB. As the world energy consumption structure transforms toward energy conservation and emission reduction，China and the world will have increasing demand of natural gas. It is predicted that natural gas will replace coal and oil as the primary fossil energy and become the most important bulk commodity. In light of the North America’s Shale Gas Revolution and Russia’s natural gas exporting shifting towards East Asia，China will have abundant supply of natural gas. The paper holds that China shall seize the opportunity to set up a regional natural gas spot transaction and futures trading center，and to build the mechanism to value and trade with RMB. The natural gas-RMB strategy will help China reform its natural gas industry，transform its energy structure，as well as give bigger voice to China in natural gas pricing，and the internationalize RMB.
