Indonesian Bintan Island is a nexus point in Maritime Silk Road, where a number of Chinese from Southern China migrated and settled since 1700s. Chinese migrants mainly planted gambir, pepper and involved in the spices trading industry. Therefore,Chinese migrants made a significant role in the development of Bintan island, and also contributed to the spread of Chinese folk belief in Bintan by setting up temples in which Chinese migrants worship the deities originating in Chinese indigenous society.
