A systematic review of background，revisions and controversies surrounding “China’s Wildlife Protection Law”，this article intends to provide several recommendations. The update and revision of the Wildlife Protection Law should follow those objectives laid out by China’s Ecological Civilization movement. The main goal of the Law should be protecting wildlife species and their habitats，maintenance of biological and ecological system diversity and vitality，and prioritizing good governance.
