this thesis analyzes the long term development strategic planning of different levels of world cities，including London，New York，Tokyo，Los Angeles and Frankfurt，researches on the systematic and prospective thinking facing the challenges of the future，and also summarizes the new trend of world city strategy development. At last，it puts forward the implications of city strategic planning and urban governance for Guangzhou，based on the goal of Guangzhou’s rising status in the world city system.
