Analyzing recent studies of Overseas Chinese charitable giving from a historical research angle，and starting from the origin of theories of Overseas Chinese charitable giving，this study demonstrates that the Overseas Chinese charitable giving behavior is a kind of “indifference meaning exchange” behavior. The main donors generally attain spiritual satisfaction，such as honor，the esteem of society and public opinion，enhanced interpersonal relationships and so on，which to a degree becomes a kind of balance in proportion to the monetary exchange. According to the China Charity Information Center，the total amount of Overseas Chinese charitable giving is 7.172 billion yuan in the year 2013，accounting for 7.25 percent of total donations，which is an important part of charitable donations in China. In regards to the main donors，it has been found that individuals donated in the highest proportions，and that the ratio was 46.7% of charitable giving in 2008 and 2009，73.62% in 2011 and 56.81% in 2013. Donations from overseas Chinese enterprises of absolute and relative number have displayed an upward trend. Overseas Chinese charitable giving in China includes direct donation methods including personal models and folk organizations’ models and indirect donation methods including the government model. Through this data，this paper finds Overseas Chinese charitable giving in China has the pluralism of the main donors and the diversity of giving ways，however，there are some questions to be solved，for example the donor content is relatively singular and unsustainable，and the donation projects do not have a high level of specialization. In order to solve these problems，the government should enhance the importance of Overseas Chinese charitable giving，broaden the fundraising channels，and improve the ability and range of social donations.
