2014年底，习近平总书记视察江苏并指导工作时发表重要讲话，要求江苏要从经济发展、现代农业、民生建设、文化建设和党的建设这五个方面迈上新台阶，把江苏建设成为经济强、百姓富、环境美、社会文明程度高的新江苏。习近平总书记的这一重要讲话，为江苏未来的经济社会发展给予了新的定位，指明了前进的方向，提出了新的任务。建设经济强的新江苏，是迈上新台阶、建设新江苏的重要组成部分，本文即就此做分析研究：首先明确江苏经济强的目标内涵与衡量指标，表现在综合实力强、产业结构优、质量效益好、创新能力强、市场活力旺和经济风险小；其次依据指标对江苏经济强的绩效进行定量评价；接着进行江苏经济强的横向比较与现实挑战的论述；最后提出江苏实现经济强的战略对策。
