The British film industry in 2015 and 2016 performed better than in 2014. Cinema admission grew and box office reached record high. Hollywood blockbusters’ dominance in the UK market Top 20 Films declined. The box office share of UK films achieved the highest record of 45% in 2015，largely due to the explosive success of UK-US co-productions；but it declined to normal in 2016. The share of independent films slid a bit from its 2014 highest point. The box office for both UK-US co-productions and independent films in 2016 was far from satisfactory. In 2015，201 films were shot in the UK. The total UK production expenditure was the second highest since 2008. Genre was marked by diversity，with action films being the most popular. The British film talents won 16% of key international awards. The double height of box office and market share was attributed to the brilliance of UK-US co-productions：Star Wars：The Force Awakens and Spectre. The Theory of Everything，Brooklyn and Amy defended British artistic glory with awards. The British government continued to use public funding and tax cuts to support films. In 2015，the UK and China signed Memorandum of Understanding for Film Cooperation for more substantial cooperation.
