As one of the most developed countries in the world，Canada has done a great job in food safety management which has significance for China. This paper，by introducing the food safety management system and mechanism in Canada and analyzing the relevant data in recent years，illustrates that food safety management has the following characteristics：quick response to food safety risk，prompt information release to public，shared responsibility of governments，food industries（including producers，processors，retailers，and food service establishments），and consumers.
