In the 1930s,the Japanese Empire were scrambling to invade the continent. In addition,as part of Korean people’s mental control,Japan began to strengthen the policy of forced the Shinto Shrine worship exaction. In particular,a priority target of that was the Korean Christian. Since the Korea-Japan Annexation (1910),the Korean Christian was a stumbling block to the Japanese colonial rule. So directly after the Korea-Japan Annexation,Japan oppressed the Korean Christian as the so-called ‘Korean conspiracy case’ (1911) that was fabricated by the Japanese Government-General of Korea. However, because the Western powers had been giving support to its national Missionaries in Korea and Japan wanted to avoid diplomatic problem concerning them,it was difficult that Japan persecute the Korean Christians. But a situation was changed after Japan withdrawal from the League of Nations (1933). Japan forced the Korean Christian which doesn’t adapt to the shrine worship in the colony Korea. The first target was Pyongyang Christian symbolizing the Christianity in Korea. Pyongyang Christian refused strongly the Shinto Shrine worship enforcement. But in the middle of 1930s,the Korean Christian submitted gradually to the Shinto Shrine worship enforcement under the oppressive colonial rule. The Korean Presbyterian Church enduring like the final fort determined the shrine worship in 1938,but all Korean Christian didn’t accept that. Many Christian participated in the Shinto shrine worship refusal Movement with the will of the indomitability. Christians who are participated in that Movement died or became the body of disability in the prison. Some was imprisoned and some made the underground church until National Liberation Day (1945). The mind of the indomitability guarded the church and faith will not disappear ever.
