Security cooperation is always one of the SCO’s key points. Since its establishment，it has created a relatively sophisticated security mechanism，passed a great number of relevant legal documents，and conducted effective joint anti-terrorist drills，making an enormous contribution to maintaining the regional security and stability. Affected with the situation of “Islamic State” and Afghanistan，the anti-terrorist situation in the Central Asian Area has become further complicated，facing with an increasing regional security threat. In this new circumstance，the SCO member states must substantially consolidate their cooperation，further improving their action capability of dealing with security threats，promoting their role in anti-terrorism，increasing their intelligence exchange and information communication，personnel training and reinforcing their defensive cooperation so as to effectively respond to new threats and challenges to the regional security.
