The year 2014 brought a ray of hope to Tunisia,a country that had suffered continued turmoil for some time. The successful election of the Parliament and presidency marked the realization of smooth political transition in the country,and brought democratic transition back on the right track. However,persistent economic recession and the potential threat of terrorism still constitute a serious barrier toTunisia’s stability and development. It remains to be seen whether Tunisia can become a model for other Arab countries undergoing transition.
