中日两国节能环保领域有较强的互补性，两国间最具代表性的合作机制是始于2006年的“中日节能环保综合论坛”，现已成为两国节能环保合作的最大平台。该论坛将两国间的政策理解、地方政府间交流、学术研究机构及企业间交流有机融合，实现了中日间节能环保合作向多层面综合性合作的转变，增进了两国对环保节能合作的理解互信，也建立了良好的合作机制与对接渠道。
China and Japan have strong complementarity in the field of energy conservation and environmental protection. The most representative mechanism of cooperation between the two countries is “Sino-Japanese Energy Conservation Forum”，which began in 2006 and now is the largest platform for both countries to cooperate energy conservation. The forum has become an integration mechanism for energy conservation policy understanding，local government exchanges，academic and research institutions and enterprises cooperation. It realized a change to comprehensive multi-level cooperation on energy conservation，enhanced the understanding and mutual trust of cooperation on energy conservation，and established a good cooperation mechanism and the docking channels between China and Japan.
