欧盟是世界第三大能源消费地区，欧盟能源理念与能源技术均处于世界领先地位。受金融危机与欧债危机影响，2008年以来欧洲能源消费增长缓慢，但是2010年后有所回升。受福岛核事故影响，德国宣布逐步放弃核电，这是对欧盟能源工业的一个负面影响因素。欧盟能源政策的重点有两个方面：第一，与能源供应方如俄罗斯、欧佩克等搞好关系，稳定能源供给；第二，建立欧盟统一能源市场，促进能源结构优化、效率提高和在应对全球气候变化国际谈判中占得先机。
The EU is the third largest energy consuming region in the world and believes its energy concepts and energy technology a world leader. Affected by the financial crisis and the European debt crisis, the energy consumption growth had been quite slow since 2008.But it picked up after 2010. Also under the influence of the Fukushima nuclear accident, Germany announced phasing out of nuclear power, which was absolutely a negative factor to the EU energy industry.EU energy policy focus is two fold: First, to establish good relationship with energy suppliers such as Russia, OPEC and others for a stable energy supply; second, to establish unified EU energy market, to promote energy structure optimization, efficiency improvement and to take good stead in response to global climate change negotiations.
