Macao is a small enclave with half a million citizens. High density population not only affects the living standard and environment in Macao，but also adds heavy pressure on the management of the city and its medical services. However，owing to the continuous efforts of the Macao Government and its full-scale financial support，public health of Macao has reached the level enjoyed by most of the advanced economies worldwide. The Macao SAR Government has upgraded the quality of medical services，and enhanced its cooperation with medical institutions in mainland China with the purpose to guarantee sound medical services for its citizens. This article introduces the development of Macao medical system，discusses the status of medical structure，and evaluates its performance.
