This article summarizes the social issues discussed in this group of papers，including human resources，social security，caring of the aged，health care，public safety，civil society organizations，and environmental protection. The general trend regarding these issues is positive，although various problems still remain to be solved. These issues are related to the modernization of the city and the building of its soft power. They are important in the city’s efforts in making Macao into a world class resort destination. Both the government and the citizens of Macao have to think seriously about these issues.
