The Nordic countries were severely hit by the global financial crisis and Iceland even once became a “bankruptcy state”. Compared with the other Nordic countries，Norway was relatively less affected. In the political arena，during the 2009 parliamentary election in Norway，the Left Alliance led by the Labor Party was re-elected. Iceland held an early parliamentary election owing to the financial crisis，where the transitional coalition government composed of the Social Democratic Alliance and Left-Green Movement won.
