The South African Communist Party(SACP)is an important force in the socialist movement in the world. After 90 years of its hard exploration of the socialist development road,it presented a unique theory. The SACP thought that the future South African socialist society will have four basic characteristics:firstly,it should realize democracy, equality and freedom;secondly,it should practice the socialization of main economic sectors;thirdly,it should adhere to the organic combination of “efficient program” and “ beneficial market”;fourthly,it should persist in the sustainable development. In addition, the SACP has also developed its own theory and strategy on the transition to socialism with local characteristics. As for the development stage of social revolution, the SACP advanced a theory of the combination of(National)democratic revolution and socialist revolution. As for the basic strategy for the transition to socialism, the SACP chose a strategy of revolutionary amelioration. As for the basic program for the transition to socialism, the SACP formulated a basic programme known as the “ four pillars ”(political work, economic work, ideological work and grass-roots work). The SACP believes that strengthening the Party building is the fundamental guarantee for the transition to socialism, and it includes four aspects such as the innovation of the targets, policy and content of Party’s activities, the strengthening of the ideological and theoretical construction;the strengthening of the building of Party organizations and enhancing the Party’s administrative ability.
