2003～2013年，中国与北欧国家关系总体发展平稳，在政治对话、经济贸易、科技合作、环境保护、文化教育等各领域、各层次的合作不断增强，各级别、各地区的交流合作日益增多，常设机构日益增多、合作机制不断深化。关于民主人权的讨论一直是影响北欧国家与中国关系顺利发展的重要因素。
In the period 2003-2013，the relations between China and the Nordic countries have generally maintained a sound momentum. Bilateral cooperation has been constantly enhanced in the fields of political dialogue，trade and economics，R&D，environmental protection，culture and education. In addition，the exchanges and cooperation at all levels and between various regions have also been strengthened. In the same time，the number of permanent institutions has grown and cooperation mechanisms have been deepened. However，discussions on democracy and human rights in the Nordic countries have directly influenced the smooth development of the relations between them and China.
