Presidential elections were held in all three countries in the Trans-Caucasus in 2013. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azerbaijiang’s President Ilham Aliyev were reelected as expected，Presidential Candidate of Georgia’s ruling coalition “Georgian Dream” won the election. Georgia signed Association Agreement with the European Union，Armenia chose to join the Customs Union，and Azerbaijan insisted on the principle of equality and independence in its foreign relations. While Azerbaijan achieved stable economic growth，Georgia and Armenia remained sluggish in economic development.
