This article examines the motivations and underlying logic behind France’s strategic shift toward non-Francophone African countries. Rising anti-French sentiment in Francophone Africa，growing economic potential in English-speaking African states，and intensified global multipolar competition have collectively driven France to progressively abandon its traditional focus on Francophone nations，pivoting instead toward economically vibrant non-Francophone regions. The characteristics of this strategic shift are reflected in several dimensions：economically，France has transitioned from military cooperation to prioritizing economic engagement，aiming to reshape African markets through technological exports and standard-setting practices；culturally and educationally，France seeks to expand its social influence in non-Francophone countries through enhanced cultural and educational exchanges；diplomatically，it leverages regional organizations and multilateral platforms to overcome linguistic and institutional barriers，thereby amplifying its voice in collective decision-making processes. Within this new strategic framework，while France seeks to capitalize on the economic growth and digital potential of Anglophone Africa，it must also navigate multiple challenges，including historical inertia and mismatched financing structures. Ultimately，the success of France’s strategic transformation hinges on its ability to fundamentally transition from an outdated colonial paradigm to a new cooperative model aligned with the demands of a multipolar era.
