In recent years,France and India have exhibited a deepening trajectory in strategic cooperation, with India increasingly emerging as France’s pivotal strategic partner and priority economic collaborator in the Indo-Pacific region. At the institutional level, the two nations have established a multidimensional cooperative framework encompassing bilateral diplomatic consultations and multilateral platform coordination. Key areas of collaboration include defense and security cooperation, regional strategic alignment, coordinated initiatives in energy transformation and emerging technologies, and multilateral coordination on global governance issues. This has culminated in a tripartite partnership model integrating strategic, economic, and technological dimensions. The intensified France-India strategic cooperation not only reinforces bilateral political trust but also exerts substantial influence on the geopolitical landscape of the Indo-Pacific region and global power dynamics. However, this partnership faces distinct constraining factors. Through systematic analysis of recent cooperative initiatives, this study investigates the underlying motivations and geopolitical ramifications, aiming to decode France’s strategic calculus within the evolving Indo-Pacific paradigm and great power competition.
