2023年，越南进一步加强党建和政治体制建设，妥善处理高层人事变动，开展干部信任测评工作，加快调查和审理一系列重大腐败案件，颁行多项重大发展计划，开始越共十四大的筹备工作。宏观经济保持稳定，国内生产总值同比增长5.05%，虽未能达到预定目标但保持较高增长。越南继续大力开展“竹子外交”，与中国、美国、日本提升双边关系，同时举行了一系列活动纪念《越南文化纲要》颁行80周年，物质文化遗产工作和体育事业取得新成就。在社会方面，越南人口突破1亿人，医院药品、医疗用品和设备短缺问题严重，多起火灾造成严重后果，严格落实“喝酒不开车”规定等成为社会关注的突出事件。
In 2023，Vietnam further strengthened Party building and the construction of political system，properly handled the changes of senior personnel，carried out the work of cadre trust assessment，accelerated the investigation and trial of a series of major corruption cases，issued a number of major development plans，and began to prepare for the 14th National Congress of the CPV. Vietnam’s macro-economy maintained stability，with GDP growth of 5.05%，which failed to reach the target but maintained a high growth rate. Vietnam continued to vigorously carry out “Bamboo Diplomacy” and enhanced bilateral relations with China，the United States and Japan. A series of activities were held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the promulgation of the Outline on Vietnamese Culture，and new achievements were made in the work of tangible cultural heritage and sports. In terms of society，Vietnam’s population exceeded 100 million，hospitals were seriously short of drugs，medical supplies and equipment，many fires caused serious consequences，and the strict implementation of the “Don’t drive after drinking” regulations became a prominent event of social concern.
