Overall rightward-drift and social division have constituted the key characteristics of European societies in 2024. The overall deterioration of people’s livelihoods and the lack of relief measures by the EU and European countries have led to a general rightward-shift in political stance；the support rate of right-wing populist parties has risen sharply，and European public opinion has shown obvious cognitive changes on issues such as the Russian-Ukrainian conflicts and the role of Europe，which reflects their obvious anxiety；Massive peasant protests and workers’ strikes in various sectors throughout the year not only reflect the difficulties and people’s discontent in the social sphere，but also help right-wing populist political parties to further build up public support；the reshaping of the European social ecology by the populist movement has weakened the basis of the intrinsic solidarity of each country’s society，resulting in a more serious social division；the EU and some member states continue to tighten reforms of the migration and asylum policy，and Europe still faces great challenges in shaping a common policy on migration.
