As an export-oriented economy，Guangzhou sees an increasing number of its enterprises investing abroad with the deepening of globalization. The local government steps up its policy system to safeguard those enterprises，increased international patent applications，further improving the intellectual property（IP）protection service system，and gradually becoming the “preferred place” for resolving international IP disputes. However，there are still problems with the unreasonable factors in international patent application，weak awareness of responding to IP litigation，and the insufficient IP protection service system. These are mainly caused by the weak awareness of brands operation overseas，the high cost of international patent application，and the difficulty in obtaining evidence for international IP disputes. This article refers to the IP protection environment in key countries and regions such as the United States，Europe and Japan，and puts forward suggestions for improving the IP protection for Guangzhou enterprises going global. By establishing and improving the overseas IP service system，Guangzhou should encourage and support enterprises to file more international patents application，improve their ability to deal with international IP disputes，and provide guidance in IP protection，effectively serving and protecting Guangzhou enterprises going global，and helping to build Guangzhou as an exemplary hub city of the Belt and Road.
