Walking transportation systems are an essential part of urban transport systems，playing a crucial role in alleviating urban traffic pressure，improving the urban environment，and promoting the development of public spaces. In February 2024，Sydney，Australia，launched a new round of strategies for creating a walkable city，establishing a strategic framework that aligns with the hierarchical needs of walking，and formulating five key implementation strategies to foster a walking-friendly environment. Based on the experience of Sydney and considering the actual conditions of Chinese cities，this paper further proposes an adaptive approach to delineating pedestrian guidance areas and prioritizing pedestrian-oriented traffic safety measures.
