The world is entering an era of population aging, and almost every country is facing various social issues due to the increasing number or proportion of the elderly population. “A place to live,a place to be cared for” is a major source of security and happiness for the elderly, thus making senior housing strategies an important part of achieving age-friendly city goals. For major cities, the deepening aging conditions often intersect with housing issues, leading to negative consequences. Vancouver’s Seniors Housing Strategy is a housing policy proposed against this backdrop. This action is strongly goal-oriented,focusing on five key directions including housing supply, care services, housing subsidies, information accessibility, and cross-domain collaboration, aiming to ensure that all elderly people have age-appropriate and affordable housing in every community. Vancouver’s pioneering planning strategy to create a warm home for the elderly also provides important insights for Chinese cities to address the pressures of deepening aging.
