Despite the abolition of the imperial examination system，promotion of new learning，and anti-traditional trends of the New Culture Movement on the mainland，close ties between traditional hometown areas in Guangdong and Fujian and overseas Chinese have facilitated the continuation and development of Chinese culture. To verify this view，this paper collects and analyzes the text data of evaluation texts from various cities in China after the release of the video game “Black Myth：Wukong，” and the results show that cities in Guangdong and Fujian provinces have a stronger emotional identification with traditional Chinese culture than other regions，indicating that hometown communities still have a significant impact on the transmission of traditional culture in the context of modernization.
