Canadian higher education has a close relationship with international students, who make significant contributions to the Canadian economy. With the increase in the number of international students, their housing issues has gradually come to the forefront. Insufficient supply, rising costs, and declining housing quality have exerted pressure on international students. Although the Canadian government has implemented a number of policies to encourage international students to stay after graduation, housing for international students in Canadian universities faces systemic challenges due to federal and local(provincial and municipal)government policies, municipal zoning regulations, developer interests and central bank policies. In the future,Canada should continue to optimize the environment for international students, strengthen housing market regulations, improve the supply and quality of housing, create better study and living conditions for international students, and promote positive interaction between international students and higher education.
