2023年首届韩国-太平洋岛国峰会引人注目，标志着尹锡悦政府“印太战略”的正式实施。尹锡悦政府明确宣布太平洋岛国为其关键伙伴，高调举行首届韩太首脑峰会，大幅度增加对太平洋岛国的援助，加强双方在气候变化、海洋安全、渔业及卫生健康方面的合作。韩国之所以举行首届韩国-太平洋岛国峰会及提升韩太关系，主要原因是：太平洋岛国地缘价值重要性日益凸显；韩国“全球枢纽国家”外交定位的驱动；自身经济利益的需要；美国的推波助澜。但是受制于多种因素，韩国对太平洋岛国外交政策的调整也面临着诸多挑战。
“The First Korea-Pacific Islands Summit” in 2023 has attracted much attention，marking the formal implementation of ROK’s “Indo-Pacific Strategy”. The Yoon Seok-youl Government has explicitly declared the Pacific island countries as key partners，held “The First Korea-Pacific Islands Summit” with high profile，significantly increased aid to Pacific island countries，and strengthened bilateral cooperation in areas such as climate change，maritime security，fisheries，and health. “The Korea-Pacific Islands Summit” was held to improve the relations between the Republic of Korea and Pacific island countries. The reason is as follows：the increasing importance of the Pacific island Countries’ geopolitical value；the drive from ROK’s diplomatic positioning as a “global hub state”；the need for its own economic interests；and the encouragement from the United States. However，due to a variety of factors，the adjustment of ROK’s foreign policy toward Pacific island countries also faces many challenges.
