In 2023，the Solomon Islands’ economy resumed growth，the political system maintained dynamic orderliness and continuity，and the relationship between China and the Solomon Islands maintained a positive momentum of steady development. Earnings from the 17th Pacific Games and related industries partially mitigated the downward pressure on the economy from weak domestic demand and inflation. Due to the long-term impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the 2021 Honiara riots，Sogavare’s government postponed the national elections until 2024，while improving the electoral system by adjusting the Electoral Commission，improving legislation，and improving the electoral system. In July 2023，Solomon Islands Prime Minister Sogavare visited China，and the leaders of the two countries reached important consensus on bilateral relations and issues of common concern，and China and Solomon Islands formally established a comprehensive strategic partnership of mutual respect and common development in the new era.
