As the external situation continues to deteriorate，the dynamics of the great power game rises，and the strategic importance of the Pacific island region gradually increases，the Pacific island countries as a whole will continue to face a complex situation in the political and economic spheres in 2023. On the one hand，although the cohesion of regionalism in the Pacific Island countries has been strengthened compared to previous years，internal political conflicts still exist in some countries；on the other hand，the issue of the climate crisis faced by the Pacific Island countries occupies a more important position in the international arena，but there are still many difficulties in the implementation of the final action；and the economy is showing a slowing down trend，and gradually returning to the normal rate of economic growth. In the face of complex and challenging internal and external circumstances，the Pacific island countries were committed to maintaining political stability and economic growth domestically，and were actively promoting bilateral and multilateral cooperation at the international level and taking the initiative to make their voices heard in the international arena. While the region’s development prospects remain uncertain，the continued implementation of China’s Belt and Road Initiative in the region and the deepening Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and the Pacific Island countries provide a key impetus to the region’s stability and prosperity.
