In 2023，China’s relations with Southeast Asian countries achieved new developments across multiple domains. Politically，frequent high-level visits propelled the construction of the China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future to go deeper and more substantial. Economically，bilateral trade continued to grow，with deepening industrial chain integration and orderly negotiations for the upgrading of free trade areas. Digital economy and green economy emerged as new highlights of cooperation. In terms of security cooperation，China and Southeast Asian countries achieved positive outcomes in defense practical cooperation and maritime cooperation. In socio-cultural exchanges，cultural mutual appeciation，scientific and educational cooperation，and people’s livelihood cooperation progressed simultaneously，fostering closer people-to-people ties. Regionally，both sides have made pragmatic progress in green transformation and maritime governance. Looking ahead to 2024，China’s relations with Southeast Asian countries will continue to deepen cooperation across political，economic，and cultural dimensions，jointly addressing challenges and promoting regional peace，stability，and prosperity.
