我国文化遗产资源非常丰富，截至2024年9月共拥有59项世界遗产、76.7万处不可移动文物、1.08亿件（套）国有可移动文物，全国备案博物馆达到6833家，它们是“百万年人类史、一万年文化史、五千多年文明史”的实证。数量巨大意味着保护难度大、有效利用挑战大、传承压力大、资金缺口大，在保护修缮、展示陈列、活化利用、数字采集、交流互鉴等方面，亟须社会力量的广泛参与。尤其是随着经济社会的持续发展，文化遗产日渐成为满足人民美好生活的需要。公众对文化遗产的参与意识、参与热情也越来越高。科技的快速发展，更进一步拓宽了社会力量参与文化遗产事业的路径。
China’s cultural heritage resources are vast and diverse. As of September 2024，the country boasts 59 World Heritage sites，767，000 immovable monuments and sites，and 108 million pieces or sets of state-owned movable artefacts，along with 6，833 registered museums nationwide. Together，these treasures serve as tangible testaments to “one million years of human history，ten thousand years of cultural history，and over five thousand years of civilization.” The scale of these resources presents immense challenges in protection，utilization，inheritance，and funding. Broad participation from civil society is urgently needed in areas such as conservation and restoration，display and exhibition，revitalization and utilization，digital documentation，and international exchange and mutual learning. As China’s economy and society continue to develop，cultural heritage plays an increasingly significant role in fulfilling the public’s pursuit of a better life. Public awareness and enthusiasm for participating in cultural heritage protection have grown significantly. Additionally，rapid advancements in technology have broadened pathways for societal participation in the cultural heritage sector，opening up new opportunities for public participation and collaboration.
