In 2023，the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Russia-West confrontation continued，the competition between China and the US intensified，and China-Russian relations were under constant pressure from the West. China and Russia have strengthened cooperation in the fields of politics，economy and trade，energy，military affairs and international affairs，and have achieved fruitful results. Leaders of the two countries maintained mutual visits and political relations continued to deepen. Economic，trade and energy cooperation has yielded remarkable results，with the bilateral trade volume exceeding 200 billion US dollars for the first time. China and Russia reached political consensus on the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia natural gas pipeline project. Military cooperation and diplomatic coordination have been increasingly deepened.
